Opening Statements (AKA Description of the Whiskey): Blue Note Crossroads is a straight bourbon whiskey finished in toasted French oak casks. It is sourced from MGP and sold by B.R. Distilling Company who is based out of Memphis, Tennessee. All of B.R. Distilling's Bourbon are sold under the name Blue Note. The name pays homage to the style of music that was made famous in Memphis: the Blues. The company claims that "[l]ike the blues, Blue Note is bold yet smooth. It embodies Southern culture and Delta flavor." Company: B.R. Distilling Company Distillery: MGP Mash Bill: 60% Corn, 36% Rye, 4% Malted Barley Proof: 100 Age: At Least 4 Years Direct Examination (AKA Tasting Notes): Nose: Toasted Powdery Marshmellos, Metallic Maraschino Cherry, Creamy Caramel, Oak, Medium Ethanol Palate: Oak, Cherry, Peanuts, Rubber, Slight Peppery Pop Finish: Cherry, Oak, Wine Barrel Tannins, Baking Spices, Strong Slow Ethanol Burn Mouth Feel: Medium Length: Medium Cross Examination (AKA The Whiskey's Shortcomings): The palate was not nearly as flavorful as the nose or finish. This is also not as sweet as most bourbons or as creamy as as others that have a toasted finish. The metallic tint on the nose and rubberiness on the palate are a little off putting too. Closing Arguments (AKA Conclusions about the Whiskey): I really wanted to like this bourbon, since I usually find bourbons with a toasted finish exquisite. However, the flavors here do not meld very well. There are also the unpleasant metallic and rubbery notes. It leaves much to be desired, but it isn't terrible. This bourbon goes for $40, which is definitely overpriced in my opinion. I would spend $20 at most for this, and even then, there are plenty of other whiskeys in that price range that are better. Verdict: 5

Verdict Key: 10: I do not possess the vocabulary to adequately or accurately describe this masterpiece. It should not be possible for man to create such art. 9: Incredible. Hoard this stuff. Paying secondary market prices is totally worth it. 8: A real pleasure to sip. Always try to have at least one bottle and a backup on hand. 7: A solid pour. Daily drinker for sure. Try to have a bottle on hand. 6: Would not say no to a pour if offered to me, but I won't go out of my way to find it. 5: Good to mix with a coke. 4: Swing and a miss. A mixer makes it tolerable. 3: Only if I had nothing else to drink in the house. 2: Was this made in a prison toilet? 1: This is the stuff the KGB used to slowly and painfully kill prisoners. 0: An abomination of epic proportions. Should not be called whiskey.
